Jaltek, a leader in electronic design and manufacturing located in Luton, required an upgrade to their existing air conditioning systems. Their existing system had become inefficient and unsuitable for the thermal loads of their production area and additional facilities.
The project background and key requirements
The project aimed to enhance the indoor climate for both staff and production processes while ensuring compliance with current environmental regulations, including F-Gas and WEEE.
Project objectives
1. Removal of the old system
Remove and dispose of the existing air conditioning systems in compliance with F-Gas and WEEE legislation.
2. Install the replacement system
Install new, energy-efficient air conditioning systems in designated areas.
3. Improve the working environment

Scope of work
The project involved the installation of the following air conditioning systems:
1. Production Area: 6 Ceiling-Suspended Systems
- Designed to effectively distribute air across large spaces
- High-efficiency units to ensure energy savings
2. Staff Canteen: 1 Ceiling Cassette System
- Provides uniform cooling and low noise levels
- Aesthetically pleasing design suitable for communal dining areas
3. Reception Area: 1 Wall-Mounted System
- Efficient temperature control for guest-facing areas
- Compact design to blend with the reception decor
Installation process
Site Assessment
- Conducted a detailed analysis of the existing air conditioning systems and the required cooling loads for the various areas of the facility.
- Engaged with stakeholders to confirm specific needs and preferences.
Removing existing systems
- Safely dismantled and removed existing air conditioning units and associated equipment.
- Ensured proper disposal of materials in accordance with the F-Gas regulations to minimize environmental impact.
Installation of New Systems

- Installed ceiling suspended systems in the production area, ensuring optimal air distribution and efficiency.
- Installed the ceiling cassette in the canteen and the wall-mounted system in the reception area with precise location planning for comfort and aesthetics.
