Spheretech Air Conditioning for Cokethorpe School Library

How draughts and temperature extremes were controlled with a modern air conditioning system

Cokethorpe School is a prominent independent educational institution, founded in 1957, that values the comfort of its students and staff, particularly in learning environments such as the library. The library, with its large glass front, faces south, resulting in significant solar gain during the summer months, alongside cold drafts in the winter.

The goal of this project was to replace the existing old ducted uneconomical system and install an energy efficient, effective air conditioning system to maintain a comfortable learning environment year-round.

Project objectives

1. Temperature Regulation

Maintain a consistent temperature in the library to enhance study conditions and protect library materials.

2. Energy Efficiency

Utilize energy-efficient systems to minimize operational costs.

3. Aesthetic Integration

Ensure that the air conditioning units blend seamlessly with the library’s interior design.
