Project background and key requirements
We were approached by the owners of a beautiful country cottage-style property who wanted to improve comfort throughout their home with a modern air conditioning system. Their primary requirement was clear from the outset: they wanted the benefits of air conditioning without compromising the traditional character and aesthetics of their home.
Our design team worked closely with the client to create a solution that delivered exceptional performance while keeping the indoor equipment as discreet as possible.
Living room solution
The main living area required effective cooling and heating throughout the year, making a wall-mounted air conditioning unit the most practical solution. However, the client was keen to avoid seeing the unit when it was not in use.
Working alongside the client’s specialist carpenter, we incorporated the wall-mounted unit into bespoke joinery designed specifically for the room. The joinery features a discreet door that remains closed when the system is not operating, concealing the unit completely and preserving the cottage’s traditional appearance.
When cooling or heating is required, the door can simply be opened, allowing unrestricted airflow and ensuring the system operates efficiently without compromising performance. The result is a perfect blend of practicality, energy efficiency and interior design.
Master bedroom solution
For the master bedroom, we specified a concealed ducted air conditioning system to achieve an even more discreet finish.
The indoor unit was installed within a ceiling alcove area, hidden entirely from view. Only the stylish supply and return air grilles are visible within the room, creating a clean and uncluttered appearance while delivering quiet, comfortable temperature control.
This solution provides all the benefits of air conditioning while maintaining the elegant character of the bedroom.
Outdoor unit installation
To minimise visual impact externally, we positioned the ultra-quiet, energy-efficient outdoor unit in the narrow alleyway between the client’s property and the neighbouring home.
This location keeps the equipment largely out of sight while ensuring excellent airflow and accessibility for future maintenance. The result is a discreet, non-obtrusive installation that complements the property’s appearance both inside and out.

The finished installation provides year-round comfort, energy-efficient heating and cooling, and an exceptionally discreet appearance that respects the character of this charming country cottage.
