Case study | West Thames College
Spheretech Ltd specialise in designing and installing heating, cooling and ventilation equipment into offices, retail, schools, universities medical practices and factories throughout the UK.
One area of expertise is providing cost and energy efficient solutions for temporary buildings.
Spheretech were asked to provide adequate cooling and heating for a temporary building at West Thames College that would be used as kitchen, canteen and classroom blocks for three years while the existing building underwent significant refurbishment.
As a college it was essential that a good quality learning environment was maintained with adequate ventilation being applied to the kitchen area. Spheretech produced a design that involved a tightly packaged ducted system for the kitchen sitting on a Big Foot mounting system to protect the roofs integrity.
A turbo prop fan was chosen as the main air propulsion unit because of its pressure characteristics and how it assisted as an ideal part of the space saving design.
Noise energy use were minimised by the adoption of a 3 phase inverter drive and a 45kw heater battery was also incorporated into the design as were safety devices to ensure the gas valves were closed if the extraction service was interrupted.
David Knibbs. Spheretech Ltd adds,
“Spheretech’ own ductwork team designed and installed the kitchen ventilation system mounting it entirely on the building’s roof within a remarkably short timescale.”
As with all Spheretech installations, we arrange an initial free, no obligation survey to assess the customer’s requirements and to provide a forum to answer any questions. Should you require any further information please call us or email [email protected].
